Autobahn Hexham
Autobahn was founded in 1989 on Tyne Mills Industrial Estate, Hexham.
We quickly outgrew these modest premises, and in 1996, moved to our current site on Haugh Lane Industrial Estate
Although initially we were purely BMW, due to increasing demand we gradually moved into the service and repair of Audi, Volkswagen and Mercedes.
Our modern workshop is equipped with the latest diagnostic and fault code reading equipment enabling us to keep abreast of the latest systems.
The workshop is supported by a comprehensive parts department to ensure a quick turn around of most repairs.
Our current labour rate is approximately half the rate that local main dealers charge.

Your MOT is one of the most important things you need to remember when owning a car, alongside a service. Without one, you will likely be breaking the law. But have you ever wondered what MOT means, what it stands for, or what terms like MOT exempt and MOT test number mean? In this guide, we provide answers to all these questions, giving you the background on the UK’s crucial car safety test.
What does MOT mean? What does it stand for?
MOT stands for the Ministry of Transport, the government department that introduced the test in 1960 as a means of testing vehicle safety, exhaust emissions, and roadworthiness.

With the latest of an ever-changing technology. Every possible fault can be diagnosed, from the standard warning lights to electrical issues and including the more complex engine and gearbox troubles. This new technology also allows us to detect intermittent lack of power or glitches that show no warning symbols or symptoms otherwise.
Air conditioning service and repairs
If your car or van is fitted with air conditioning or climate control, you’ll know the comfort it can bring in maintaining a cool temperature when driving during the warmer months of the year.
However, you may not be aware that just like other components of your vehicle, your air conditioning system also requires regular servicing to make sure it is clean and operating at optimum efficiency.
We recommend having your vehicle’s air conditioning checked and re-gassed every two years. In addition to standard re-gassing, we also offer repairs on faulty air conditioning systems.
Laser wheel alignment
Laser Wheel Alignment is a way of using light beams to check your car’s front wheels are set up as they should be. You’d think this means simply pointing forwards but in fact, wheels are set up to point at specific angles to ensure the car rolls along smoothly.
To check the alignment, a technician attaches brackets to your car’s wheels and shines a light from one to the other or, using an overhead projector, to all four. Depending where the beams of light fall on a scale, the technician can see whether the wheels are in or out of alignment.
